CJ's on the Bay sits on Smoke Bay, east of Olde Marco, with outdoor seating right on the water. It's quieter and more relaxed than the Snook Inn — a good spot for a leisurely lunch or a casual dinner. The view is over a sheltered bay, so the water is calm and the birdlife is excellent (herons, egrets, and osprey are regulars).

Marco Island Princess — Dinner on the Water, Literally

The Marco Island Princess is a sightseeing and dining cruise that departs from the Rose Marina in Olde Marco. The sunset dinner cruise takes you out on the Marco River and into the Gulf for dinner with a constantly changing water view — and a sunset you watch from the water rather than the shore. It's the most literally waterfront dining on the island.

If you're staying at Bottlenose Pointe, you have a private waterfront dining option: the screened lanai overlooking the Marco River. Many of the best meals our guests have aren't at a restaurant at all — they're a takeout dinner or a home-cooked meal eaten on the lanai, watching the river and the sunset. The Snook Inn and other Olde Marco spots do takeout, and the condo's full kitchen means you can cook your own.

It's the most relaxed waterfront dining on the island — no reservation, no wait, no check, and the best seat in the house is yours for the whole stay.

How to Time a Waterfront Dinner for Sunset

The Snook Inn and the Marco Island Princess both face west, which makes sunset the prime time. Here's how to time it:

• Check the sunset time for your dates (it ranges from about 5:45 PM in December to 8:15 PM in June).
• Aim to be seated 30–45 minutes before sunset. The light in the hour before sunset is the best part.
• At the Snook Inn, arrive early — the deck fills up for sunset, especially in season. A 5 PM arrival for a 6:30 PM sunset is about right in winter.
• For the Marco Island Princess, book the sunset cruise — the schedule is built around it.

Dock-and-Dine on Marco Island

If you're renting a boat or arriving by water, several Marco Island restaurants have docks where you can tie up and eat. The Snook Inn and the Rose Marina area both accommodate arriving boaters.
